Weekly Warm Up No. 48
Happy Fall, WWU’s!
One of the exercises that we were asked to do was to sketch all your artistic, personal, and creative goals (without self censoring…which is hard to do!). Then, and this is where it gets interesting, we needed to pick ONLY THREE and break down all the steps to accomplish those goals.
Now, truth be told, I’ve done this before, on my own, this time I have the gift of having the author lead me through the process and it has helped push me to be more daring with what I want to accomplish AND breakdown all the steps with greater detail to increase the odds for success.
Here’s my big realization with all of this and how it comes back to the guitar: You get out of it what you put in to it. If you can focus on three goals and become incredibly specific as to how you plan to accomplish those goals, drum roll, you begin to make progress.
So, question for you: How specific are your goals right now on the guitar? Are they measurable or is it the ever popular “I just wanna get better….”
I invite you to think about it and if you’re feeling courageous, share what your goal or goals are for this fall.
Here’s one of mine: 18 hours of time in the practice room every week.
I’m no where near hitting that number right now. I will be. I’m working on it each week.
Looking forward to seeing you all at our next session.
