Day 8
Do you take notes on your work? Do you track what you plan to do versus what you actually do accomplish?
As I edited video from the past week’s progress, I started to notice wholes in my plan. Watching yourself work, though weird, can be illuminating.
It’s funny to see what you’re doing (or not doing) when the camera is running.
Specifically, I’m seeing three things:
- Repetition without improvement (lack of clarity in objectives)
- Repetition of mistakes (fix it the first time)
- Tackling sections that are too large (Rome was not built in a day)
I’m reworking my tactics now. As we continue Phase 1: Covering Ground, I’m going to work on smaller sections sorting out as much musical/technical detail as possible. Added challenge—awareness of repetition (why are you repeating what you’re repeating?) and looking for repetition of mistakes (why are you making the same mistakes over and over again?).
Bonus question for myself: If you are making mistakes—how can you fix them (now!)?
See you tomorrow.
